Rather than having the hassle of taking bikes to a workshop, your team, or community could have their bike serviced close to them. We operate a Dr. Bike service, where we bring our workshop to you.
Whether you are a workplace wanting to encourage your staff to cycle to work, (or outside of work!) or offer them a staff perk for doing so, a school or college with students who cycle, or may cycle with a little extra nudge, or a community organisation wanting to promote cycling, we are here to help.
Having a safe and properly functioning bike is a big motivator for getting people on bikes. Often some professional attention can turn a negative riding experience into a positive one.
The Dr Bike session allows for a professional bike mechanic to fully check over every part of the bike, diagnosing any larger works that might be required and trouble shooting smaller ones on the spot. We will tune up brakes and gears for maximum efficiency, and replace cables where necessary. We will inspect and inflate tyres, or replace an inner tube where required. We carry a small selection of the most common brake pads which can be purchased and fitted on the day.
Every bike is returned with a traffic light style report, indicating whether we feel it is safe to ride, could do with further attention, or really should be booked into a workshop straight away.
Dr Bike FAQs
What's included? We'll fix up bikes so they are safe and ready to hit the road or trail with a full safety check, gear and brake service, tyre inspection and inflation. Similar to our Bronze service pack.
We provide basic parts such as most inner tubes, gear and brake cables, lubricants, and cleaning fluids. We usually have a selection of 'get out of jail free' spares on hand. If we haven't got the part, we can get it, and bring it to another session, or fit it at our workshop (additional charge payable by customer).
Two bike mechanics, two bike stands, tools, gazebo .
When can you come? Tuesday, or Thursday 10am - 2pm are the best times, but do ask about other times as we will do our best to accommodate.
Where do you set up? We are happy to set up anywhere on your site - often in the car park is the best place, or if you have a space inside (near to a door that people can get through with a bike!) we're equally happy there too
Who will come? Two of our small (but seemingly ever expanding) team of mechanics, Harry, Kes, Tristan, Alan, Owen, Jason, Jay and Keelan.
What do we need to do? As little or as much as you like. We recommend 'advertising' the session at least a few weeks prior to the event. You can optionally organise a 'pre booking' system to keep things as efficient as possible, we recommend pre booking for up to 10 people, leaving some time and flexibility around last minute joiners and those dropping in.
